October 15

soccer and bbq

I can't believe it is the middle of October already. I just finished decorating outside yesterday. We have been super busy since school started. Chloe' and Julian both have been playing soccer. Julian's last game was this past Saturday. Chloe' plays for her school and still has 4 more. They practice or play at least 5 times a week. Her team is really good. So far they have tied 1 and lost 1 by one point. Otherwise they are winning sometimes 7 to 0. She plays half back and full back. She's a tough lil cookie to be such a small thing. We are really proud of her. I have included a few pics.

We fired up the smoker again yesterday.( 7:30 a.m.) It was Chad's last day of fall break and I was off. He graded most of the day while he basted and loved the meat. I think I have perfeced my dry rub. I am thinking about making homemade potatoe chips and throwing some on them. Will let you know how this turns out.

Went to Long Acre Farms again on Monday with the kids. This is our 3rd and hardest year. We had to ask for help getting out this time. Check it out it's really cool.

I will blog more later. The debate has started......

War is unIthacal

Sunday , August 31st we went to Ithaca for the first time. VERY COOL place. We went to The Commons which is an open air market and square. Chloe' got some vintage stuff and a great hat. It's the light aqua one in the photos. We also went to Buttermilk Falls and hiked around Tremont lake. Ithaca is known for it's trails and gorges. There are bumper stickers and shirts that read " Ithaca is Gorges". Which it is in both senses of the word. Chad bought a shirt that reads "War is unIthacal". We also got a whole bunch of free tees from the same place. The owner was giving away free shirts to " get the word out". We kept a few and gave a few away. I still like my tee with a pic of Dick Cheney that reads " Big Dick " the best.

Ithaca is very granola. A lot of things to look at and with 2 universities. 1 Ivy league, Cornell the other is Ithaca. Which itself is a very good school.  It is also the home of the famous Moosewood restaurant . Becky and Jerry are coming for Thanksgiving . We will go back while they are here to eat there. Here are pics of our hike.

Camping at Palmer's Pond

The next day we went camping at Palmer's Pond. It 's about 15 minutes down the road on state property. There is fishing and horse, ski and snow mobile trails. I took the kids and Chloe's friend , Maddy. Chad stayed home and worked but came out both nights for dinner. Julian and I had one tent while the girls had their own. It's a great place to camp.I am hoping to get back out there before it gets too cold. The girls built a fairy forest and community. It was very cool. ( see fairy forest under photo albums) The kids also brought the last of our fireworks.

Can't load fairy photos  right now for some reason. Will load later.

home again home again......or Philo and the skunk

A few weeks ago Philo got sprayed for the first time by a skunk. I felt so sorrry for him. The skunk was in the garage. He got sprayed in the face and neck. No matter how sorry I felt, he was NOT coming in the house until he had a bath. It was late, as a matter of fact we were getting ready to go to bed. So he stayed in the garage. He also got out! He figured out how to open the garage door! He was waiting at the front door crying this next morning. He usually wants out! This is him protesting his bath.

Hanging out in Knoxville
